
About Sigiriya
Sigiriya, or Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin in the central Matale District. Rising 200 meters above the surrounding plains, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. The climb to the summit passes through the famous mirror wall, past stunning frescoes of celestial maidens, and through the massive lion's paw entrance.
